What the Critics Say

"In the best Swedish invasion since ABBA, Volvo's flagship SUV has been turning heads and opening pocketbooks since it arrived on our shores for 2016. It offers a bold, elegant design, a spacious interior so gorgeous that it deserves a place of honor in Stockholm's Moderna Museet, and a trio of four-cylinder engines (one with an assist from a battery pack and two electric motors) that rival their six-cylinder competitors for performance." - Car and Driver

"If there is one virtue that the 2018 Volvo XC90 possesses in spades, it's elegance. From the extra classy exterior styling to the impressively well-appointed interior, the XC90 exudes panache. It's a luxury crossover with all the fancy vibes you could ever hope for." - Edmunds

What's New for 2018

Minor adjustments have been made to the Volvo XC90 lineup for 2018. Adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and Apple CarPlay & Android Auto are now standard on every XC90. The T8 plug-in powertrain is now available even in the entry-level Momentum trim level. Three additional colors are now offered on the 2018 XC90.

Volvo XC90 Features

Volvo XC90 T5 Engine

T5 VS. T6 Engines

We get a lot of questions about the differences between the T5 and T6 Engines available on the XC90. While the T5 and T6 are both 2.0 Liter 4-Cylinder engines, there is one major difference between the two. The T5 is turbocharged while the T6 is "twin-charged." A twin-charged engine is one that is both turbocharged and supercharged.

The T5 delivers 250 horsepower and is offered in both Front Wheel Drive (FWD) and All Wheel Drive (AWD). The T5 Engine is always combined as a 5-Passenger SUV. The T6 delivers 316 horsepower, and only comes in AWD and 7-Passenger configurations. There is also a T8 Plug-in Hybrid Engine available which comes only in E-AWD and 7-Passenger capability - and delivers 400 combined horsepower and a 54MPGe fuel economy equivalent.

Refined Interior

The cabin of the XC90 not only has elegant styling but spacious cargo room. The leather upholstery and aluminum and wood accents expresses the Scandinavian design and the 50/50 third row offers best-in-class legroom of 36 inches. And with up to 85.7 cubic feet of cargo space, the XC90 can accommodate any weekend getaway.

Advanced Technology

Standard Volvo Sensus simplifies your life by giving you the power to control information, entertainment and safety features all while keeping your eyes on the road. Plus with built-in Wi-Fi, you and your guests will always be connected. Standard Sensus Navigation will help you get to your destination with its 3D imaging, voice recognition and routing options. And with built-in apps like Find Parking, you'll never be late to a dinner party again.

Volvo XC90 Towing Capacity

The 2018 Volvo XC90 has a maximum towing capacity of 4,000-5,000 pounds when properly equipped with the optional towing package. T5 front-wheel-drive models can tow up to 4,000 pounds. All other XC90 models have a 5,000 pound maximum towing rating, giving you plenty of power for towing a small boat, pair of jet skis, or a small pop-up camping trailer. Combined with a massive 85.7 cubic feet of cargo space, XC90 is ready for your next weekend adventure.

XC90 has an available air suspension system on all four wheels. This system comes in handy when loading cargo or hitching up a trailer. Simply press a button inside the cargo area to lower the rear of the car by up to 2 inches, giving easier access for loading cargo or lining up a trailer to its hitch.

The 7-Passenger Volvo XC90 VS. 7-Passenger Competition

The 2018 Volvo XC90 T6 AWD Momentum comes with standard features such as Sensus Navigation and 7-Passenger seating. You won't necessarily find these features as "standard equipment" on the 2018 Acura MDX or 2018 BMW X5. To get navigation on the Acura, you'll need to add a Technology Package for $4,400. The good news is that navigation is standard on the BMW, but if you want 3rd row seating, it's only available as a costly option.
