Volvo XC60 Model Overview

All-New Volvo XC60 2018 Model Overview in Cincinnati Ohio

Reimagined and Redesigned for 2018

A favorite among midsize SUV buyers, the All-New Volvo XC60 returns for 2018 sporting a complete redesign. Taking design cues from the award winning XC90, the XC60 features distinctive Thor's Hammer sideways-T shaped LED headlights, bold upright grille, and an elegantly raked windshield. Scandinavian-influenced design shapes the captivating looks of the All-New 2018 Volvo XC60.

With greater emphasis placed on improved driving dynamics and a sleeker profile, the All-New 2018 Volvo XC60 improves upon the current XC60. Wheelbase length has been enlarged by 3.6 inches, resulting in an overall increase in length by 1.8 inches. This increase in length has expanded the rear-seat dimensions, resulting in a more spacious interior for passengers. Ride height has been lowered by 2.1 inches in order to give the XC60 a firmly planted stance on the road versus the outgoing model.

Access navigation, media, and vehicle functions effortlessly with the touch of a button. With the Volvo On Call app, remotely access your XC60 from your smartphone. Monitor fuel levels, pre-heat or cool the cabin, and lock/unlock your doors directly from your location. Other clever innovations designed to make life easier for XC60 drivers include a motion-activated tailgate, allowing access to cargo storage even when your hands are full.

When you drive a Volvo XC60, know that Volvo is here to protect you and your occupants no matter what lies ahead. Available Lane Keeping Aid and Oncoming Lane Mitigation work in tandem to monitor and maintain lane positioning while avoiding potential collisions. Helpful on long trips, the system also provides gentle steering inputs to keep your XC60 safely in your lane. Optional Volvo City Safety technologies include automated emergency braking, blind-spot assist, and rear-cross traffic alert. As one of the leading pioneers in autonomous driving, Volvo XC60 boasts available Pilot Assist technology. Designed primarily for highway use, the system works in tandem with adaptive cruise control to maintain following distance and lane positioning.

By offering an extensive list of advanced active safety features, it comes as no surprise that the 2018 Volvo XC60 was chosen as a Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). In an effort to achieve this honor, Volvo improved upon the car's superior front crash protection over the previous generation XC60. To qualify as a Top Safety Pick +, a vehicle must earn good ratings in the driver-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, roof strength, side, and head restraint, along with an advanced or superior rating for front crash prevention and a good or acceptable rating for headlight performance.

Three Trim Levels, Three Powertrains

Volvo gives buyers a wealth of choices to finding the perfect XC60 for their lifestyle. Three individual trim levels and three powertrain options provide an excellent range of available options. XC60 Momentum models come nicely equipped with a host of standard equipment, while XC60 Inscription adds additional luxury and technology amenities. XC60 R-Design boasts the thrill of a spirited drive, characterized by refined style and luxury.

All three trims can be combined with any of the three individual powertrain options. T5 XC60 models come with a 2.0-liter inline-four cylinder turbocharged engine capable of producing 250 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Stepping up to the T6 adds a 2.0-liter supercharged and turbocharged four cylinder engine with 316 horsepower and 295 lb ft of torque. Rounding out the lineup is the top-tier T8 eAWD Plug-in Hybrid. Utilizing breakthrough Volvo plug-in-hybrid technology, T8 XC60 models offer an impressive 400 horsepower and 472 lb ft of torque packaged with all-wheel-drive. New for 2018 across all XC60 models is an improved suspension design. Now standard is a control-arm front and a multilink rear suspension, which provides an ideal balance of precision handling and remarkable refinement.

Beginning with starting MSRP, none of these competitors can measure up to the outstanding value of the XC60. The value continues when comparing fuel economy of these four SUVs. Topping the X5, RDX, and RX 350 is the XC60. Impressive power paired with outstanding efficiency highlights how Volvo XC60 drivers can benefit from these fuel savings.

SUV buyers tend to live active lifestyles, which is why Volvo engineers have designed the All-New XC60 to be a hit with drivers. XC60 offers the lowest turning diameter among the competition, making maneuvering into tight spaces easy. While the BMW X5 has a higher towing capacity by 652 pounds, the X5 costs nearly $17K more than the Volvo XC60. XC60 has a greater maximum towing capacity than either Lexus or Acura. Available automatic load leveling suspension makes hauling cargo and passengers safer and more comfortable.
