Common Myths About Motor Oil

Over the years, you probably have been told many things from other people about how to care for and maintain your vehicle. These people may have been automotive mechanics or your parents. However, some of these truisms may no longer be true, as in the case of when to change the motor oil in your vehicle.

You may have heard that once you use synthetic oil, you will always have to use it. This is not true. Using synthetic oil is probably better for your engine over the long run than other types of oil, but switching back and forth will not harm your vehicle. Another common myth is that you need to change the oil every 3000 miles. This is also not true. Some manufacturers recommend changing the oil every 3000 miles, and others recommend waiting until 7000 miles.

If you are uncertain about when to change your motor oil, come in to our service center at Volvo Cars Cincinnati North in Chester, OH and let us check and see when you need to have it changed. We can provide this and any other service you may require.
